Suez turns to VUF Bikes for a more sustainable city
Cargo bike of the month: A VUF XXL Cleaner for Suez.
Suez has chosen our Cleaner cargo bike. The group needed a lightweight, versatile vehicle to move freely in the hyper-center for bulky waste collection. The downtown area of Bordeaux is known for its narrow, cobblestone streets, one-way traffic, and limited access for cars. The VUF Bikes has proven to be the solution, distinguished by its short turning radius, allowing it to navigate between pedestrians, obstacles, and pedestrian-only streets.
The Saint-Michel neighborhood: a challenge in waste management.
The Saint-Michel neighborhood in Bordeaux, one of the oldest and most vibrant, is characterized by its cultural diversity, dynamic atmosphere, markets, and numerous shops. Its density, marked by intense urban activity, necessitates optimized logistics for waste management. Thus, the VUF cargo bike plays a role in this urban management. Its robust, ventilated, and easily cleanable cargo box provides a lightweight and efficient transport solution for bulky waste collection, with frequent stops. Weighing only 45 kg, this box can support a payload of up to 150 kg, allowing operators to act quickly and effectively in areas like cours Victor Hugo. The removable side panels offer additional flexibility, transforming the box into a pickup mode to facilitate loading bulky items. The rear door also allows for quick access, making the tricycle practical for daily use. Constructed from profile aluminum and sheet metal, it is both lightweight and durable, making it an ideal solution for repeated interventions in urban environments, especially in the densely cobbled streets around the Porte de Bourgogne.
The VUF e-trikes: a key asset for Suez in Bordeaux.
Philippe de Barros, Service Center Manager for the departments of Charente (16), Charente-Maritime (17), and Gironde (33), shared his feedback on the use of the Cleaner cargo bike at Suez:
"As the service center manager for departments 16, 17, and 33, I am responsible for coordinating various activities within Suez. Currently, we use a VUF XXL MAX Cleaner tricycle deployed for bulky waste collection in the historic heart of Bordeaux. Our bike is used seven days a week, regardless of weather conditions, demonstrating its versatility and reliability."
By choosing the Cleaner cargo bike, Suez not only reduces its carbon footprint but also helps decrease noise pollution in downtown Bordeaux. This versatility allows Suez to maintain a high frequency of interventions, even in adverse weather, while ensuring optimal service for residents in the hyper-center. The Cleaner cargo bike from VUF Bikes perfectly meets the demands of Bordeaux, a historic city where narrow alleys and the pedestrian nature of certain neighborhoods make access difficult for conventional vehicles.
Video feedback.
Today, Suez has been using VUF bikes for over a year. To better understand the impact and effectiveness of this cargo bike for bulky waste collection, we produced a video showcasing its usage. This video demonstrates how Suez utilizes this cargo-bike in the historic heart of Bordeaux, highlighting its advantages in confined spaces and its ability to navigate crowded streets.
