VUF BIKES and Sofrigam Group launch the 100% carbon-free and made in France controlled refrigerated cargo bike

To meet the delivery needs of temperature-sensitive products in urban areas, VUF Bikes and Sofrigam Group designed and built the VUF XXL Coldway Inside scooter. A true synergy of the innovations and technologies of the two partners, this electric scooter allows professionals in the pharmaceutical and catering sectors to maintain a perfect cold chain thanks to its refrigerated box equipped with 100% decarbonized, silent and ATP-certified Coldway technology. Presented by the two partners on the Sofrigam group stand, Hall 3 A065 at the SOLUTRANS 2023 exhibition in Lyon.

Because of its environmental impact, the challenges of urban logistics have become a real concern for businesses and particularly for all players in last-mile logistics. With current environmental issues, the multiplication of regulations in city centers, as well as the upcoming bans on the deployment of new thermal vehicles (by 2035), added to the ban on the use of polluting gases by 2023 with the recently voted European F-Gas regulation, as well as the recently voted European F-Gas regulation, supply chain and temperature-controlled delivery players are facing a real headache. Even as the demand for home delivery continues to increase, temperature-controlled transport flows represent a potential of nearly 10 billion euros*, two-thirds of which are outsourced to transport providers. The food chain now accounts for 91% of market needs.

The need to provide a reliable, carbon-free and rapidly available solution to ensure the continuity of urban deliveries has prompted VUF Bikes, a pioneer of French manufacturers of electric scooters for urban professionals, and Sofrigam Group, European leader in solutions for the preservation of temperature-sensitive products under controlled temperature, to pool their expertise to develop the tricycle. The first 100% carbon-free and Made in France cold cargo bike

The VUF XXL Coldway Inside is an electrically assisted scooter made in France (produced between Mérignac (33), Perpignan (64) and Arras (59)) specially designed to be able to preserve the quality of food products (cold, fresh, ambient & frozen) and to maintain pharmaceutical products (vaccine, sample...) at the right temperature up to the patient or the final consumer.

This robust and revolutionary cargo bike is a summary of nearly 10 years of expertise from VUF Bikes and more than 40 years of expertise from the Sofrigam Group.

The scooter has a useful volume of 0.5 m3 and a payload of 60 kg at the rear as well as a payload of 25 kg on the front luggage rack. Thanks to its ideal dimensions, this cargo bike complies with the VAE standard and can thus circulate on bus lanes and bike paths, and therefore effortlessly sneaks into the heart of cities for faster, more efficient and above all silent deliveries. The PIEK certification of Coldway technology makes it possible to ensure the continuity of urban deliveries at night or at staggered hours.

A cargo bike already popular with major logistics players on French territory

The VUF XXL Coldway Inside was tested, tested and approved in preview by La Poste, in a scenario in the City of Paris to deliver meals to elderly and isolated people. To date, a fleet of more than 20 VUF Bikes x Sofrigam electric scooters deliver meals to the homes of Parisian seniors.
